Help In Once Place is a platform and app designed to provide an easier, safer, one-stop-option for vulnerable populations to find social services. Much more robust than a directory, Help In One Place is the actual solution, ultimately improving the health and well being of the community as a whole.

Imagine....

YOU’RE 14-YEARS-OLD. YOUR MOM’S LOST HER JOB, YOU’RE AFRAID OF HER BOYFRIEND, THERE ISN’T ENOUGH TO EAT.
You need help. You don’t know who’s on your side. Your teacher points out a small icon on your school Chromebook. It says, Help In One Place. She explains, “If you’re ever in trouble, you can always talk to me, and Help In One Place is here for you, too. Just type what you need into the search bar, and it will show you where you can go for help with even really big problems.” Later that night, you log in and type, “we need food,” and two places you can walk to that offer food to anyone who needs it show up. You then type, “he hits my mom,” and you see an anonymous help line and three women’s shelters you can talk with. It’s going to be hard, but you pick up the phone.

SHE’S 16-YEARS-OLD. A CONCERNED CITIZEN CALLED TO REPORT HER. SHE HASN’T DONE ANYTHING WRONG. SHE NEEDS FOOD, AND A PLAN.
You work with homeless shelters and food banks daily, but this poor kid needs more than just a meal. She ran away from her last foster home, is living on the streets, and she’s looking for her older brother who she says has been using and needs help. Not all of this can be handled with one call. You click on the Help In One Place icon on your cruiser laptop and start the hunt. With a few clicks you’ll have things moving in a better direction for this young woman.

A website+iOS/Android app software solution that aggregates information on vetted, safe regional social service providers so those who need services can quickly and easily find the right resources to meet their needs. This offers a safe and credible alternative to seekers searching the web and being served paid ads for predatory organizations.

Help In One Place coordinates local service providers to facilitate
connections based on user-provided profile information. Listings have multiple category tags to make them easy to find. From a list of options, seekers can view a description of services, hours, mapped location, and website.

When those in need in a community are supported, positive effects extend to the entire community in ways such as lower crime rates, more support for law enforcement, and efficient allocation of tax dollars. Since the program launch in Naples, there have been over 20,000 searches (in just the first four months). First responders are universally being trained to use it,  and school counselors are reporting success sharing the program with students in need.

The original solution was developed with the support of the Naples Children’s & Education Foundation (NCEF). 

Shaman Software, founded by Pete Mayhak and Miki Clark, is a company on a mission to do good in the world, with wide-ranging projects that touch lives through better medical care, easier school lunch programs, access to social services and more. 

NCEF is a non-profit that provides funding to regional social services agencies that support community wellbeing for Children’s and Educational causes.
